The Red Sword-grass (Xylena vetusta) is a species of moth of the Noctuidae family. It is found from north-western Africa through Europe and Asia up to central Siberia. North, it is found up to the Polar circle and Iceland.
The wingspan is 52-65 mm. Adults are on wing from August to June.
The larvae feed on various plants, including Rumex hydrolapathum, Centaurea, Iris, Cyperaceae and Polygonum.
